Human remains from MH17 to be sent to Netherlands on November 28

The remains of passengers from Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 will be sent from Kharkiv to the Netherlands on Friday, November 28, the director of the Department of Economics and International Relations of Kharkiv Regional State Administration Viktor Kovalenko said on Wednesday at a meeting with members of the international team investigating the crash.

"A farewell ceremony for the victims of the disaster will take place on the tarmac of Kharkiv International Airport at around 1100, attended by Dutch Minister of Security and Justice Ivo Opstelten,” Kovalenko said.

“Six coffins with the bodies of the passengers will be sent to the Netherlands.”

The meeting on Wednesday was attended by the leader of the international mission investigating the MH17 crash, Michiel Marchand, the leader of the joint military unit of the Joint Interagency Task Group for MH17 Hans van de Ven, political adviser of the mission Martin Van Buren, the heads of departments of Kharkiv Regional State Administration, and representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Southern Railways and Kharkiv airport.

"Thank you for organizing the [commemoration] of the victims of the aircraft crash,” van de Ven said.

“Four months ago no one could even imagine that this would continue for such a long period of time. I want to thank you for the support you provide to us, and for your willingness to help us again."
