Near the checkpoint of Chongar between Ukraine and the Russian-occupied Crimean peninsula, a full-fledged border between countries at war has been set up, with snipers, military equipment and personnel on the Russian-seized side of the territory, and locals are aware that the Kremlin may at any minute decide to move further north.
The Ukrainian army is watching the backs of Ukrainian border guards a few kilometers away in case of an invasion attempt. It looks like the new Ukrainian border is well protected, but it is still unclear if Russian President Vladimir Putin will try to build a land bridge to Crimea.
