One Ukrainian soldier has been killed and another 17 wounded in the Donbas conflict zone in the last day, National Security and Defense Council spokesman Andriy Lysenko said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Russian-backed militants have attacked Ukrainian army positions times 75 times over the last 24 hours.
There has been a marked increase in the number of attacks by the militants on Ukrainian forces in recent days, according to reports from the Ukrainian military. Ukraine declared a ceasefire on December 9, but it has been violated numerous times, with both sides blaming each other for the continued fighting.
