The monitoring mission of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in eastern Ukraine has issued a statement condemning the launches of attacks by insurgents from residential areas.
The OSCE said it regrets that such tactics endanger lives of civilians. Ukrainian officials, journalists and human rights groups have repeatedly accused militants of provoking civilian casualties with such actions, which they say invite retaliatory fire, Ukraine Today reports.
The statement also says that OSCE monitors witnessed heavy damage to civilian areas but failed to access the Donetsk airport due to the intense fighting.
