A riot in the town of Kostyantynivka, in Donetsk region, broke out on March 16 following an accident involving a Ukrainian armored personnel carrier in which an 8-year-old local girl was killed.
According to police reports, the military vehicle also seriously injured the girl’s aunt, who was later taken for treatment to a local hospital, while the girl’s baby cousin was not injured at the scene, Ukraine Today reports.
Outraged protesters went on the streets burning tires and blocking traffic. The incident has intensified public tension in the area, as many local residents had earlier expressed a negative attitude toward government troops.
