Ukraine wants roadmap to EU accession at Riga summit – Klimkin (Video)

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has said in an interview with the German daily newspaper Die Welt that the Ukrainian government will seek assurances at the EU Eastern Partnership Summit held this Thursday and Friday in Riga, Latvia, that Ukraine is seen as a suitable candidate for EU membership.

Klimkin also expects that the EU will lift travel restrictions across the Schengen states for the Ukrainians next year, Ukraine Today reports. 

The EU Eastern Partnership summit is hosting representatives of the bloc’s six eastern neighbors, who are to meet with the officials of the 28 EU member states.

Discussions are expected on the issue of finding a political solution to the eastern Ukrainian conflict.
