The leaders of the Donetsk and Luhansk Peoples’ Republics militant organizations are ready to recognize the special status territory of the Donbas as "an integral part of Ukraine” in proposed amendments to the Ukrainian Constitution, news agency RBK-Ukraine has reported, with reference to militant-controlled media that published the text of amendments.
In the text of "additions and amendments of the DPR and LPR to the Constitution of Ukraine" it is written that "some regions with special status (or their associations) are an integral part of Ukraine." The list of cities and regions of Donetsk and Luhansk regions that should have a special status, and the basis of that status, according to representatives of the DPR and LPR, shall be defined separately by a law of Ukraine.
The leaders of LPR and DPR, Ihor Plotnytsky and Olexander Zakharchenko, should retain their posts, according to the text of the document.
"Senior officials in charge of the executive branch on the territory of individual regions of Donetsk and Luhansk regions on the date of adoption of these amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine, shall continue to exercise their powers until the termination of powers in accordance with the procedure established by the acts of individual regions with special status in Donetsk and Luhansk regions" the text reads.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed that neither Moscow nor anyone else has the right to dictate a constitution to Ukraine.
