Coronavirus in Ukraine: Almost 2,800 confirmed cases, 83 deaths as of Sunday morning

Ukraine's Health Ministry reported 2,777 confirmed coronavirus cases in the country as of 09:30 Kyiv time on Sunday, April 12.

"Some 266 new cases were confirmed in the past 24 hours," according to the ministry's update posted on Facebook on Sunday morning.

The death toll was 83, including 10 deaths in the past 24 hours.

Eighty-nine coronavirus patients have already recovered.

Tests were conducted in the virological reference laboratory of the Health Ministry's Center for Public Health of Ukraine, as well as regional laboratories. As of the morning of April 12, 2020, the Center received 657 reports of suspected COVID-19 cases. Since the beginning of 2020, a total of 10,432 such reports have been received.

As many as 432 of the confirmed cases were recorded in Chernivtsi region alone. The city of Kyiv reported 416 cases, Kyiv region – 159. The lowest number of the confirmed cases was in Mykolaiv region (2).

Data from Russia-occupied areas – the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions – is not available.

As of 06:48 a.m. local time on April 12, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide was 1,777,666, including 108,867 deaths, according to the Coronavirus COVID-19 Global Cases dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University. Some 404,372 coronavirus patients have recovered so far. As many as 185 countries have been affected by the virus.

As UNIAN reported earlier, there were 2,511 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 73 deaths, in Ukraine on Saturday morning.
