Kharkiv factory provides rehabilitated tanks to Ukrainian army

The Malyshev plant in eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, which once repaired and modernized the Soviet Union's T-64 battle tanks to fight Nazis, has somewhat different tasks nowadays, working overtime to help the Ukrainian Army in battling pro-Russian proxies in Donbas since April last year, according to Ukraine Today.

The factory provides evaluation of the military hardware’s condition, its repair, or replacement of damaged parts.

Manager of the Kharkiv armour plant, Viktor Kozonak, tells Ukraine Today of some challenges the mechanics face, as some of the military hardware has not seen any use for over 30 years, Ukraine Today reports.

Ukrainian troops have an opportunity to test drive the repaired tanks on the training grounds outside of the factory. Each of the tanks is driven at least 100 kilometers and opens fire twice.

Six T-64 tanks have already been delivered to the Ukrainian army and ten restored and modernized T-80 tanks will also be soon put to the job.
