Ukraine Exists - UN opens its doors for an art exhibition

The UN is hosting the first art exhibition about Ukraine since the Maidan. And it is not light-weight - almost 1,4 tonnes of art objects, pictures and installations brought from Ukraine by Taras Topolya and his colleagues, Ukraine Today reports.

"We've met a great understanding from the side of UN. The main idea is the exhibit itself is not against someone, everyone is fully aware of its context,” said Volodymyr Yelchenko, Ukraine's Ambassador to UN, according to Ukraine Today.

“And we don't have to show any horrible pictures, people could watch this on the news. The main idea is to show a different focus of the tragedy in Ukraine and different perception of conflict in Donbas," he said.

The most popular part of the exhibition is the Ukrainian flag. Taras Topolya asked more than one hundred Ukrainian defenders from 14 different divisions on the front line to sign it. It hangs at the entrance to the exhibit, right next to the inscription "Ukraine Exists."
