Third of Ukrainians say Ukraine offensive solution to situation in Donbas – poll

A total of 34.1% of Ukrainians believe that the offensive of the Ukrainian troops is an option for the solution to the situation in the east of the country, according to findings of a public opinion poll conducted by Gorshenin Institute.

In particular, the sociologists offered respondents possible solutions to the situation in the east of Ukraine.

The majority of respondents, or 34.1%, chose the offensive of the Ukrainian troops to restore control over the entire territory of Ukraine.

At the same time, 24.2% of respondents were in favor of granting a special status for certain territories of Donbas in the framework of the Minsk agreements.

A total of 11.5% of respondents were in favor of turning the situation into a frozen conflict, while 9.2% called for the establishment of peace through the transfer of the occupied part of Donbas to the Russian Federation. Another 21% of respondents could not answer.

The poll was conducted on February 8-17, 2016. A total of 2,000 people aged from 18 were questioned in all regions of Ukraine (except for Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions). The poll's margin of error is no more than 2.2%.
