Poll: Almost 44% of Ukrainians support idea of NATO membership

As many as 43.9% of Ukrainian citizens say they support the idea of Ukraine's NATO membership, while 38% are against it, according to a public opinion poll conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology between May 20 and June 2.

At the same time, 18.1% of those polled found it difficult to answer whether they would support Ukraine's accession to NATO, according to the findings of the poll, which were announced at a press conference in UNIAN's press center on Thursday, June 9.

The poll also shows that 46.2% of the pollees believe that Ukraine should integrate into the European Union, while 11.6% would like to see Ukraine as a member of the Customs Union along with Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.

A total of 2,043 people were questioned in personal interviews in 110 Ukrainian towns and cities, except for temporarily occupied areas in Donbas and Crimea.

The poll's margin of error is no more than 3.3% for indicators close to 50%, 2.8% for those close to 25%, 2% for those close to 10%, and 1.4% close to 5%.
