Russia has recently recruited more than 600 volunteers in the occupied areas of eastern Ukrainian Donbas to take part in hostilities in Syria, Ukraine’s Border Guard Service press secretary Oleh Slobodyan told a Kyiv briefing Thursday, October 13, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
"The movement of Russian troops continues through the temporarily uncontrolled stretch of the border in the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. At the moment, activities continue aimed at the selection of volunteers from among the Russian mercenaries in the occupied areas of Donbas for participation in the Syria fighting as part of the Russian contingent," he said.
