PM Groysman pledges over $111 mln from budget for Ukrainian culture in 2017

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman says that over UAH 3 billion, or US$111 million, will be allocated from the 2017 national budget for the development of Ukrainian culture, according to a statement posted on the Ukrainian government's website.

"Over UAH 3 billion has been allocated in the national budget of Ukraine for 2017 for the development of Ukrainian culture, namely, cinematography, projects in different spheres for building Ukraine's image in the world, the launch of a Ukrainian Book Institute," he said in an address on the occasion of International Mother Language Day, marked by UNESCO on February 21 this year.

"In the past year, there were many good projects that will be conducive to the further development of the Ukrainian language. The creation of conditions and preferences for the production and promotion of own cultural products, in particular, in Ukrainian, is important in forming and protecting our information space," he said.
