The State Statistics Committee said
Ukraine CPI rose by 2.9 percent month-on-month in January after rising 2.1 percent in December, the State Statistics Committee said on Friday, Reuters reported.
Prices rose 22.3 percent in year-on-year terms compared with 19.4 percent in January 2007. The increase was above analysts` expectations of a rise in the CPI index of 1.9 percent for January in a Reuters poll.
Ukraine`s government targets 9.5 percent inflation in 2009 while economists expect the CPI to rise 16.5 percent.
On Saturday, the Statistics Committee said Ukraine`s producer price index rose 0.2 percent compared with the fall of 0.4 percent in the previous month.
