The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the entire Law of Ukraine “On Introducing amendments into Law of Ukraine “On Excise Tax Rates for Tobacco Goods” .
According to an UNIAN correspondent, 241 out of 446 lawmakers registered in the session hall voted for this law.
Excises to be charged as a share of the maximum retail price rather than that of product turnover. The minimal price of the most popular tobacco products - filtered cigarettes - will increase up to UAH 100 from UAH 47 per 1,000 cigarette sticks, or by UAH 1.06 per a 20-cigarrte pack. Excises for other types of tobacco products will increases at about the same rate, to prevent customers from switching to other relatively cheaper products.
