Ukraine border guards: 1,500 foreigners persona non grata due to trips to Crimea

Almost 1,500 foreigners, including over 100 artists, were banned from entering Ukraine in 2017 due to visiting the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, according to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

Last year, about 2,300 administrative protocols were also drawn up for violation of the order of entry/exit into/from the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.

Since the beginning of 2018, over 30 such persons have already been exposed.

The border service recalled that, in accordance with the law, if the foreigners violate the rules of crossing the administrative border with Crimea, they are not allowed to enter Ukraine and a decision is made to ban entry to Ukraine.

In addition, the State Border Guard Service draws the attention of citizens of Ukraine and other states to the fact that violation of the order of entry into the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea through the border checkpoints closed by the Government of Ukraine, depending on the circumstances, provides for criminal (Article 322-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and administrative (Article 204-1 and Article 204-2 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses) responsibilities.
