Verkhovna Rada has appointed Yatseniuk as Foreign Minister of Ukraine

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has appointed Arseniy Yatseniuk as the Foreign Minister of Ukraine. According to an UNIAN correspondent, 426 out of 432 lawmakers, present in the chamber, voted for him.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has appointed Arseniy Yatseniuk as the Foreign Minister of Ukraine.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, 426 out of 432 lawmakers, present in the chamber, voted for this.

The factions of the Party of Regions, CPU, SPU, and Our Ukraine voted for him with their full complement, while some members of BYT faction did not support his candidacy.

A.Yatseniuk (born in 1974) had been occupying the post of the Top Deputy President’s Chief of Staff since September 2006.

He is a candidate of economic sciences, member of the NBU Council, member of the Supervisory Council of “State Savings Bank of Ukraine’ OJSC, member of the Supervisory Council of “State Export-Import Bank of Ukraine” OJSC.

He used to work as a Minister of Economics in the Crimean government, the top deputy chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine, deputy Odessa Oblast governor.

During September 2005 – August 2006 he occupied the post of the Economics Minister of Ukraine.
