He outlined top priority tasks for Ministry of Defense for 2008
President Victor Yushchenko instated newly appointed Minister of Defense Yuriy Yekhanurov, according to the President`s press-office. During his instatement address President outlined top priority tasks for Ministry of Defense for 2008. One of them is raising combat readiness of the Ukrainian army.
V. Yushchenko also expressed his dissatisfaction with implementation of State Program of Armed Forces Development according to which Ukrainian army is to transfer to contract basis.
Issues of irrational financing redistribution are also should be solved by the Ministry. Current infrastructure and army’s needs are to be examined and appropriate measures to be taken in order to improve the situation.
