Now, anyone who has served a year under such a contract can be mobilized.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine plans to adopt a bill that will grant deferrals for military personnel who have signed "Contract 18-24." This was announced by Fedir Venislavskyi, a member of the Servant of the People faction and a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense.
"I think that during this plenary week, which begins tomorrow, we have every chance (to vote, – UNIAN) on a bill that has been in preparation for a long time. Young people who have served for one year will be entitled to 12 months of rest and will not be mobilized again into any component of the Defense Forces," Venislavsky said.
He recalled that according to the Law of Ukraine on Military Duty and Military Service, young people between the ages of 18 and 25 who are subject to conscription and are fit for military service have the status of conscripts. They are not subject to mobilization. However, if a person of this age has received military training, served in the armed forces, then he moves from the category of conscripts to the category of military personnel.
"And this category of Ukrainian citizens is already covered by the law on mobilization training, they can be mobilized. Accordingly, those young people who had a contract and served for a year are now subject to military service. And at the end of their contract, they can be mobilized. From the very beginning, when we introduced contracts for such young people, we said that they would have the right to rest and would not be mobilized for a year. This bill was drafted and was ready for consideration back in January," Venislavsky added.
Earlier, Venislavsky also announced a decision that would minimize the number of conflicts with the TCC and issues of unauthorized desertion. According to him, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine is dealing with this issue.
Meanwhile, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky announced a comprehensive exam for mobilized servicemen who recently arrived from training centers. According to him, this will allow identifying gaps in the skills of mobilized personnel and providing them with additional training before performing combat tasks.
