Ukraine has won its first medal in Beijing.

Germany`s Ole Bischof won the men`s 81-kilogram division Olympic judo gold on Tuesday, defeating Asian champion Kim Jae-bum in the final, AP reports.

Bischof went ahead with just over a minute remaining and kept on the attack until time ran out. Kim, exhausted from a semifinal that went into overtime, had no strength to fight back.

For bronze, Brazilian world champion Tiago Camilo pinned Giullaume Elmont of the Netherlands, the 2005 world champion, and Ukraine`s Roman Gontiuk outscored Mongolia`s Nyanmkhuu Damdinsuren.
