On this day of big...

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UAA1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On this day of big introductions, BMW has just taken the veil off its new 5 series. The sixth-generation maintains the model`s "charismatic and athletic" looks, according to USA Today.

It will have the longest wheelbase in the segment and loads of electronic gadgets, including parking assist.  And under the hood (and a nice shot from the rear):

Under the hood, there`s a V-8 or inline six-cylinder gasoline engine. The top-of-the-line BMW 550i arrives with BMW`s "reverse-flow" V-8 engine featuring twin turbochargers and direct injection for 400 horsepower. The new inline-6 of the BMW 535i features a single twin-scroll turbocharger, direct injection, and, for the first time, BMW`s Valvetronic throttle-less intake technology. It delivers a maximum output of 300 horsepower. The 535i and 550i will be available with a choice of six-speed manual transmission, BMW`s new 8-speed automatic transmission, or new "Sport Automatic" 8-speed.

BMW also plans to introduce the BMW 528i with a 240 horsepower inline six-cylinder engine featuring lightweight magnesium-aluminum construction and the same throttle-less intake technology.
