The government has approved the Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2035, which provides for accelerating the development of renewable energy to secure the country's energy independence, according to Head of Ukraine's State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Serhiy Savchuk, itc.ua reports.
The launch in Ukraine of new renewable energy capacities working on a "green" tariff in the first half of 2017 increased 4.5 times year-over-year (y-o-y), from 28.3 MW to 126.5 MW, the press service of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine told UNIAN.
The Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2035 approved at the government meeting on August 18 suggests the following goals in the nuclear energy sector: the increase of uranium ore mining, creating uranium concentrate reserves and further diversifying nuclear fuel supplies to Ukrainian nuclear power plants (NPPs), according to the press service of Nuclear Fuel State Concern.
The Cabinet of Ministers at its Friday meeting approved the Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2035, which provides for a twofold reduction in the energy intensity of the national economy.
The Steering Committee under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Volodymyr Kistion at its Tuesday meeting approved the country’s draft Energy Strategy until 2035, which provides for the maximum reduction in GDP’s energy intensity and the phase-out of deficient anthracite coal, committee member and Deputy Energy and Coal Industry Minister for European Integration Natalia Boiko told an UNIAN correspondent.
