Head of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeria Gontareva today, May 10, has her last working day in the office. From May 11 and until the appointment of a new NBU governor, her duties will be performed by First Deputy Head of the NBU Yakiv Smolii, the Bank’s press service told UNIAN.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has chosen a new central bank governor on the recommendation of the incumbent governor, Valeriya Gontareva, who proposed the candidacy of the head of a Ukrainian bank with Austrian capital, according to a Ukrainian news outlet.
Chairman of the Board of Raiffeisen Bank Aval Volodymyr Lavrenchuk has reportedly given consent to take up post of the Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) as a successor of Valeria Gontareva, Ukraine's TV Channel 24 reported with reference to an informed source in the NBU.
