Two Russian soldiers captured near Shastya should be swapped for Nadia Savchenko, a Ukrainian pilot jailed in Russia, Anton Herashchenko, an MP and an adviser to the Ukrainian Interior Minister has said on his Facebook page.
But he also wrote that the Russian soldiers should be prosecuted according to Ukrainian law first.
"Once we have a fair and open trial of the two war criminals from Russia that were sent to kill our citizens, I offer an exchange: the two Russian war criminals are to be exchanged for Nadezhda Savchenko and almost all of our 400 prisoners," Herashchenko wrote.
As UNIAN reported earlier, soldiers of the Aidar volunteer battalion captured two Russian special operations soldiers, Alexander Alexandrov and Yevgeniy Yerofeyev, on Saturday night,
The capture of the Russian soldiers has been confirmed by ATO spokesperson Andriy Lysenko.
The Russian Defense Ministry has declined to comment on the capture of its servicemen.
