Militants continue firing on Ukrainian troops from heavy weapons on Saturday

On Saturday, Russian-backed militants continued firing on the position of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) forces near the villages of Hranitne and Starohnativka, using heavy weapons, namely 122mm-caliber artillery systems and 120mm-caliber mortars, the ATO press center reported on Facebook.

"The number of cases when multiple launch rocket systems have been used has greatly increased since midnight. The village of Starohnativka in Donetsk region was shelled from Grad systems three times. Such systems were used to fire on the villages of Hranitne and Bohdanivka. During the daytime, combined Russian-separatist forces continued shelling our troops in that area, using 122mm-caliber artillery systems and 120mm-caliber mortars," the press center said.

In the Artemivsk sector, the enemy used large-caliber artillery systems to attack the villages of Leninske and Luhanske.

The village of Shyrokyne near the Ukrainian-controlled city of Mariupol was twice attacked from automatic mounted grenade launchers and small arms.

In Luhansk region, militants were shelling on the village of Krymske from grenade launchers.

OSCE monitors have again reported that Russian-backed militants did not let them get access to the occupied territories.

Presidential Administration speaker for ATO issues Andriy Lysenko said at a briefing in Kyiv on Saturday that one Ukrainian soldier was killed and ten were wounded in the ATO zone in eastern Ukraine on Friday.

Fifteen enemy drones were spotted over the night from Friday to Saturday. They were flying mainly in Luhansk region and in the Mariupol sector, the ATO headquarters said.
