Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muiznieks spoke to Ukraine Today following his visit to the militant-held areas of Donbas, claiming that there is no functioning rule of law in that territory.
“They are responsible for what happens there,” said Muiznieks referring to local militant leaders.
Recently, the United Nations reported daily serious human rights violations in rebel-controlled eastern Ukraine, including illegal detentions, torture, lack of justice, and human trafficking, Ukraine Today reports.
