The situation in the Donbas conflict zone remained stable on Thursday as the combined Russian-separatist forces continued to observe the ceasefire, the press center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) wrote on Facebook on Friday.
According to the report, "some cases of the use of weapons by the enemy were chaotic and provocative."
"At about 20:00 Kyiv time and 22:00, the militants started firing small arms and rocket-propelled grenades on our fortified position south of the town of Avdiyivka. At 20:30 Kyiv time, the mercenaries started firing an 82mm mortar on ATO forces in the village of Opytne from the village of Spartak," the report says.
In general, the Kremlin-backed militants attacked Ukrainian army positions in eastern Ukraine five times overnight.
"From midnight to 06:00 on September 4, the occupiers were firing small arms twice on fortified positions of the Ukrainian armed forces in Opytne," the press center said.
