A 22-year-old Italian man was detained by the border guards at the Ukrainian-controlled checkpoint in Luhansk region on September 19 after evidence was revealed of his plans to fight alongside the Russian proxies in Donbas, according to Ukraine Today.
Prominent Ukrainian volunteer and activist Rodion Shovkoshytnyi published photos on Facebook of a detained Italian, Francesco Estatico, with a letter of intention to fight with the militants, some pictures from his mobile phone and a basic map, Ukraine Today reported.
