The combined Russian-separatist forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in eastern Ukraine 20 times overnight, trying to provoke Ukrainian troops into firing back, the press center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) wrote on Facebook early Wednesday.
Around midnight, militants started firing 82mm mortars in the direction of the Ukrainian positions.
The terrorists also fired small arms, rocket-propelled grenades, heavy machine guns on the villages of Pisky, Opytne, as well as the town of Avdiyivka not far from the temporarily occupied city of Donetsk.
In the Luhansk sector, the village of Novhorodske was under militant fire at night.
