LPR leader Plotnytskiy may resign during Putin's envoy's visit to Luhansk – Tymchuk

A leadership reshuffle is being discussed in the "political circles" of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) after this issue became part of the agenda of the other unrecognized republic in Donbas, the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), head of the Information Resistance Group and MP Dmytro Tymchuk wrote on Facebook.

In particular, the LPR's "political circles" are spreading information about possible resignation of their leader Ihor Plotnytskiy.

"This issue will reportedly be resolved in the near future during a visit of the Russian president's envoy Vladislav Surkov to Luhansk," Tymchuk said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Plotnytskiy and DPR leader Alexander Zakharchenko will be reportedly asked "politely" to voluntarily leave their posts should the issue of elections in the occupied territories and their recognition by Kyiv authorities be resolved positively.

As was reported on January 26, former Ukrainian Prime Minister during Viktor Yanukovych's presidency Mykola Azarov and former First Deputy Prime Minister and former National Bank of Ukraine head Serhiy Arbuzov were reportedly being considered by the so-called "political circles" of Donbas militants as possible candidates to replace DPR leader Zakharchenko.
