The combined Russian-separatist forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in eastern Ukraine 38 times in the past 24 hours, using small arms, rocket-propelled grenades, 82mm and 120mm mortars, the press center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) reported.
"The Russian-backed mercenaries launched 38 attacks on Ukrainian troops. In the area near Avdiyivka terrorists launched seven aimed mortar attacks on Ukrainian positions, firing 80 mines, from 18:00 until midnight," the report says.
Militants also fired mortars on Ukrainian positions near Pisky, Opytne and Luhanske.
They used small arms, machine guns and grenade launchers to attack the ATO forces in the villages of Zaitseve, Luhanske, Pisky and Novhorodske.
In addition, small arms were fired on Ukrainian army positions in Maryinka and Shyrokyne.
Also militants launched unaimed fire on the ATO forces near Nevelske, Butovka- Donetskaya mine, Troitske and Mayorske, using machine guns and grenade launchers.
"Starting from midnight militants have eased their activity. Aimed fire was launched in the area near Hranitne using machine guns," the ATO headquarters reported.
