Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg has said that the military bloc does not plan to admit Ukraine as a member in the near future, as the Ukrainian government has yet to implement the required set of reforms.
Stoltenberg added that he was not concerned that Ukraine's NATO ambitions would harm relations with Russia, Ukraine Today reports.
After the bill to cancel the country's non-aligned status was passed in the Ukrainian parliament on December 23, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov voiced concerns over the consequences of Ukraine’s decision, adding that Russia would react if NATO-Ukraine ties presented a threat to the Kremlin in the future.
