Fifteen homes of relatives of Chechen militants suspected of carrying out the attack on the Chechen capital Grozny on December 4 have been destroyed this month, according to a Russian human rights group Memorial.
After fourteen policemen died in the attack, the property of the attackers’ relatives was burned down, presumably with the use of explosives and petrol, as shown in a YouTube video, Ukraine Today reports.
The vindictive action is seen by locals to be aimed at pressuring parents into preventing their sons joining insurgent ranks.
The Kremlin has fought two wars against separatism in Chechnya since 1991.
