Patrol aircraft from NATO’s Baltic Air Policing mission on March 24 intercepted four military aircraft of the Russian Federation over the Baltic Sea, the National Armed Forces of Latvia reported on Twitter on Tuesday.
"Air Policing jets on March 24 in international airspace above the Baltic Sea near the LV border identified RU AF 2x Tu-22M, and 2x Su-27,"the Latvian armed forces' tweet reads.
However, the Latvian authorities said the airspace of the Baltic countries wasn’t violated.
As reported earlier, the Japanese Defense Ministry reported a flight by a Russian Tu-95 strategic bomber near the island of Tsushima. Another Russian aircraft was spotted flying near the Japanese island of Hokkaido.
