Discussions about tightening sanctions against Russia in the United States are continuing, but any action has to be agreed with the European Union, the member of U.S. House of Representatives from Texas, Chairman of the Armed Services Committee, Republican Mac Thornberry said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
"Of course, we continue to talk about tightening sanctions against Russia, but these sanctions can be effective - if we agree them with the European Union," he said.
"If Russia continues to violate the Minsk agreements, the sanctions against it are likely to be tightened," Thornberry said.
