Lithuania's President calls on German Chancellor to maintain sanctions against Russia
Nausėda met with Merkel amid an official visit to Germany.
President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda has called on German Chancellor Angela Merkel to maintain sanctions against the Russian Federation until Russian aggression against Ukraine ceases.
"The President urged to continue sanctions against Russia until it stops aggression against Ukraine," says a statement on the presidential website on August 14.

Nausėda met with Merkel as part of an official visit to Germany, it said.
"Russia-related issues and Eastern Partnership [Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia] were also discussed," the statement said. "The two leaders expressed their support to Eastern Partnership as an initiative that upholds positive reforms based on European values in partner countries."
