"Violations of the ceasefire are still taking place, and there is a risk of the resumption of heavy fighting. Russia continues to support the militants, providing training, weapons and soldiers. A large number of its troops are stationed on the border with Ukraine," Stoltenberg said.

In this regard, NATO Secretary General reiterated his belief that the best chance for peace would be the full implementation of the Minsk agreements.

"I urge all parties to do this. In this regard, Russia has a special responsibility," he said.

In addition, Stoltenberg once again said that the alliance was committed to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

"We do not accept and will not accept unlawful and illegal annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation. We want to see a strong, independent and prosperous Ukraine," he said.

According to Stoltenberg, this is the reason why NATO wants to help Ukraine to reform its armed forces and security institutions.

"But Ukraine also needs to do its job. The reforms are very important," he added.
