The United States has "very good intelligence," so the authorities were aware of Russia's plans to launch a military campaign in Syria even before the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, U.S. President Barack Obama said in an interview with CBS.
"We knew that Putin was planning to provide military assistance to Assad, who needed it, because they were worried about a possible collapse in the region," Obama said on CBS.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Obama said that Putin's military mission in Syria was a sign of the weakness of Russia, but not a demonstration of leadership.
