U.S. President Barack Obama and his French counterpart Francois Hollande have called for cooler heads to prevail, after Turkey shot down a Russian jet at the Turkish-Syrian border, according to Ukraine Today.
Obama also stressed that the downing of the Russian jet points to an "ongoing problem" with Russia's airstrikes in Syria, Ukraine Today reported.
Barack Obama, US President: "Turkey, like every country, has a right to defend its territory and airspace. I think it's very important right now for us to make sure that both the Russians and the Turks are talking to each other, find out exactly what happened, and take measures to discourage any kind of escalation."
