Gazprom sources say Russia may freeze work on the Turkish Stream gas pipeline project for several years in retaliation against Ankara for the shooting down of a Russian air force jet, Ukraine Today reports citing Reuters.
The pipeline was designed to allow Gazprom to bypass Ukraine depriving it of the regional advantages of a transit state, according to Ukraine Today.
Earlier this year, the EU ruled the pipeline, which would have run through the Balkans, breached anti-monopoly laws.
