Six soldiers have been killed while another has been heavily wounded as a PKK-placed improvise explosive device (IED) hit a military convoy on February 18 in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır, Turkish Army announced in a statement, according to Hurriyet Daily News.
The military convoy was headed to search for mines on the Diyarbakır-Lice highway when a previously installed IED was detonated by outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants, the statement said, Hurriyet Daily News wrote.
"Six of our heroic comrades in arms were martyred while one was heavily wounded," it added, explaining that the wounded soldier is currently being treated at a hospital.
As UNIAN reported earlier, on Wednesday, the explosion hit three military vehicles and a private vehicle in central Ankara, near Turkish Parliament buildings. The death toll of an explosion has grown to 28 people with 61 others having been injured in the blast.
