Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki says his country opposes mandatory quotas for refugees from the Middle East and North Africa, according to Radio Poland.
In his words, the ruling party's position formulated before the elections remains unchanged, and "Poland opposes the mandatory quota system for immigrants from North Africa and the Middle East, but [it] also assists and will provide financial and other assistance to victims of conflicts in their host countries and refugee camps," Radio Poland's Ukrainian service said.

As UNIAN reported, several years ago Europe saw a migration crisis as a result of which the EU countries had to accept about 2.5 million refugees. Brussels introduced quotas for European nations to accept migrants, but not all states, in particular, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, agreed to implement them. In response, President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker said they might face sanctions.
