The United States of America has introduced sanctions against some Russian energy companies and individuals over Russian aggression against Ukraine.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury has published a Specially Designated Nationals and Sectoral Sanctions Identifications List Update on its website.

In total, nine companies were included in the sanctions list, and information related to 12 companies was updated.
As UNIAN reported, U.S. President Donald Trump on August 2, 2017, signed a legal act to toughen sanctions against Russia, Iran and North Korea, previously approved by the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.
On January 12, 2018, the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced that a list of Russian oligarchs who could be sanctioned in future was in the pipeline.
Meanwhile, the Russian newspaper Kommersant said that more than 50 oligarchs close to the Russian leaders were facing sanctions.
