Yanukovych discussed cooperation between Ukraine and Lithuania

Viktor Yanukovych emphasized readiness of the Government for further strengthening and development of mutually beneficial cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Lithuania, according to the government’s press-office. The Head of Ukrainian Government told during negotiations with Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Gediminas Kirkilas.

As Viktor Yanukovych noted, bipartite cooperation is efficiently developing in different trends. Particularly, high dynamics of the development is observed in trade-economic cooperation. We have increase of foreign trade turnover between the two countries.

Thus, last year trade turnover between Ukraine and the Republic of Lithuania increased by 41%. During January 2007 trade turnover increased by 53%.

The priority directions of bipartite cooperation, according to the PM of Ukraine, is energy interaction, in particular, electric power export to the Republic of Lithuania and oil transportation via Odesa-Brody-Plotsk pipe line. Creating the transport corridor Black Sea-Baltic Sea is also promising. As regards advisability of such projects development, Viktor Yanukovych said: “Both the Ukrainian and Lithuanian business need it. It is very advantageous for world business and we are ready to create this infrastructure”.
