The Council of Europe and the European Commission are holding an international conference on extradition in Kyiv (Ukraine) on 5 and 6 November, according to the CE Communication Unit.
The aims of the conference are to:
- review and discuss issues relating to extradition under the Council of Europe Convention on Extradition and the protocols thereto, pool good practices and enhance co-operation in these matters;
- enable participants from non-EU member states to improve their understanding of the European arrest warrant (in force since 2004 in European Union member states);
- give representatives of Ukraine`s Ministries of Justice and the Interior and the Prosecutor General`s Office an opportunity to establish and develop a network of contacts with a view to improving implementation of the convention and its protocols.
