Presidents of Ukraine, Hungary agreed to introduce greater dynamics

President Victor Yushchenko met today with President of the Republic of Hungary László Sólyom, according to the President`s press-office.

Together Presidents visited two primary schools in Vylok village in Zakarpattya region. In school №1 classes are taught in Ukrainian and in school №2 in Hungarian.

In his speech V. Yushchenko said that it is important to introduce Ukrainian language in schools teaching in Hungarian so that their graduates had access to higher education in Ukrainian institutes.

Speaking about today’s bilateral meeting V. Yushchenko said that its main aim is to introduce greater dynamics to bilateral cooperation including in fields of education and relations between Hungarian communities living in Ukraine and Ukrainians.

From his part László Sólyom said that his country highly evaluates Ukraine’s efforts in supporting Hungarian community. He noted that free access of Hungarians to education in their native language is very important admitting however necessity to introduce Ukrainian language in such schools.

L. Sólyom also announced that despite Hungary’s joining Schengen zone his country shall do everything to keep the border between our states transparent. To reaffirm high level of bilateral relations between our countries Hungarian President plans to come to Ukraine with an official visit in March 2008.

At the end of the meeting President Victor Yushchenko presented computer classes, school-books and three school buses to Vylok schools.
