The total number of people who have died from Ebola in the three African countries worst-affected by the outbreak of the deadly virus - Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone - has reached 4,868, Russian news agency RIA Novosti has reported.
RIA Novosti, reporting data from the World Health Organization, said the number of those infected with Ebola is now close to 10,000.
As of October 22, the disease had killed 4,868 of the 9,911 people known to have been infected by it in these three countries, representing a rise in the death toll from the virus of another 300 people in just five days.
