Agrarian Policy Ministry to fully launch work in May – minister

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine will start full-fledged work in May or early June 2021.

That was reported by the ministry's press service with reference to Minister Roman Leshchenko.

"The budget of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy has been signed by the president. The ministry will institutionally start its work in the next two to three weeks," Leshchenko said.

At the same time, the process of forming the ministry's powers and functions is ongoing.

"It will take some time, but there is clear understanding that we will have a full-fledged ministry," he said.

Reboot of Agrarian Ministry: Background

On December 28, 2020, the Cabinet adopted a decision required to restore the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, which previously been part of the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade, and Agriculture.

Prior to that, on December 17, the Verkhovna Rada appointed ex-head of the State Geocadastre, Roman Leshchenko, Minister for Agrarian Policy and Food.

The restart of the ministry's work had been repeatedly postponed.

On April 29, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law on the allocation of funds from the 2021 state budget to finance the restored Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
