Ukraine exports almost 23 mln tonnes of grain since July

Ukrainian agrarians exported 22.89 million tonnes of grain in the new marketing year (MY, July 2020 - June 2021) as of December 11, 2020, which was 3.8 million tonnes down from December 11, 2019.

The figures were reported by the agrarian department of Ukraine's Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture.

In particular, 12.14 million tonnes of wheat was exported, exports of barley totaled 3.7 million tonnes, those of maize were 6.67 million tonnes, and rye shipments totaled 1.7 million tonnes.

Also, 71,200 tonnes of flour made of wheat and other types of grain was shipped abroad, which was 94,000 tonnes down year-over-year.

Background

  • Ukraine's Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture and traders agreed that wheat exports should not exceed 17.5 million tonnes in MY 2020-2021, while those of rye 16,000 tonnes.
  • Ukraine in MY 2019-2020 exported record high 57.2 million tonnes of grain and legumes, as well as flour onto foreign markets.
